CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Provincial Government of Pampanga is set to open the Sinukwan purified water facility in Barangay San Juan Baño in Arayat using natural spring water from Mount Arayat.
This installation of a modern water filtration system is expected to provide safe and affordable drinking water to nearby communities while maximizing the mountain’s natural water resources.
Governor Lilia Pineda inspected the facility and sampled the purified water to ensure the system meets safety and quality standards before its official operation.

Powered entirely by solar energy, the station can operate continuously without a direct electricity supply, reducing operational costs while promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
The water sourced from Mount Arayat passes through three stages of purification – reverse osmosis filtration and ultraviolet sterilization, to ensure it is clean and potable.
Technical experts said the facility can produce more than 5,000 bottles of purified water daily once fully operational.
The project is expected to benefit residents of Barangay San Juan Baño and nearby communities, particularly areas far from the main water supply lines.
Pineda said the purified water will also support students and health facilities in the province.
“The provincial government plans to distribute bottled water to students in the municipality to help reduce the cost of purchasing mineral water and to supply purified water to district hospitals across Pampanga to support healthcare operations,” the governor said.
Arayat Mayor Jeffrey Luriz welcomed the project, noting that the spring water has long been used by the community but had not yet been fully maximized.
“We are thankful to Governor Nanay for this water refilling station. For many years, the water was abundant but not fully utilized. This project will benefit not only Arayat but the entire province of Pampanga,” he said.
The Sinukwan purified water facility forms part of the province’s Alagang Nanay Preventive Healthcare program, supporting public health while promoting sustainable use of Pampanga’s natural resources. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
