SUBIC BAY FREEPORT (October 1, 2026) — A major truck importation firm has opened a P50-million expansion yard at the Tipo Hightech Eco Park (THEP) here, reflecting the robust growth of the used vehicle industry in Subic which provides cost-effective transport solutions to entrepreneurs and logistics companies across the Philippines.

The New Asahi Group Subic Trading Corp. said its new 5,231-sqm facility will allow the consolidation of business operations in sourcing and reconditioning vehicles and industrial equipment and providing after-sales support to its growing customer base.

The firm, which established its Subic operations in August 2014, directly imports surplus trucks and heavy machinery from Japan and trades them under the Apex Trucks brand.

It most popular products are wing vans, dump trucks, and specialized commercial units that local businessmen find affordable.

New Asahi Group Chairman Ahamed Mohamed Mohamed Hussain said the new facility was completed only last August.

He said it will handle importation, exportation, transshipment, warehousing, rebuilding, and trading of trucks and heavy equipment and will generate 25 additional jobs.

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Eduardo Jose L. Aliño said the expansion project signals a strong vote of confidence in both the Freeport and the favorable business climate that the SBMA diligently maintains.

“A Freeport’s strength lies in the enterprises that choose to invest, expand, and remain within its borders,” Aliño said.

The Subic official added that the SBMA continues to manage a consistent inflow of truck and heavy equipment imports while enforcing strict registration and regulation requirements through the Trade Facilitation and Compliance Department to support local port operations revenue.

At least nine major surplus trucks and heavy machinery traders are located in the Subic Bay Freeport. Most of them source commercial trucks and heavy equipment from Japan for reconditioning, local sales, as well as re-export. ▲
