SAN MARCELINO, Zambales (August 20, 2026) — Residents of remote villages here that were isolated due to heavy habagat rains and floodings benefited from an outreach project by Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower).
Mayor Elvis Soria said the LGU received on Thursday, August 20, 25-kilo sacks of rice from Aboitiz Renewables. These will be distributed to residents of Barangay Sta. Fe, which has been isolated when the lahar-filled Sto. Tomas River overflowed and swept away the bridge connecting the remote barangay, Soria said.

Earlier, the power firm also donated 5,000 kilograms to Indigenous Peoples communities in this town to help them recover from prolonged rains. A total of 4,477 families in Barangays Buhawen, Aglao, and San Rafael received the donation.
Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Liza D. Balario said the assistance was especially valuable for residents in areas where crossing rivers is necessary just to reach basic goods.

Before this, Aboitiz Renewables also reached out to residents in the upland sitios of Alibang, Papaya Gala, Mampueng, Tralala, Maliwakat, and Iram, in Cabalan, Olongapo City. The firm donated 510 sacks of rice to a total of 2,040 families, many of whom rely on farming root crops, fruits, and vegetables for their livelihood.

The project was carried out in coordination with the Olongapo city government and Olongapo City Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Barry B. Esteban to ensure that the assistance efficiently reached the communities hardest hit by the prolonged rains and flooding.
Aboitiz Renewables operates the Olongapo Solar Power Project (Phase 1), which has a peak capacity of 221 megawatts. It is also proposing the Phase 2 expansion of the Olongapo power project, as well as the San Marcelino Floating Solar Power Project over Mapanuepe Lake in San Marcelino.
Aboitiz Renewables said it will continue to partner with local government units and community stakeholders across its host areas to support relief efforts, ensuring vital aid is directed to families who need it most. ▲
