SUBIC, Zambales — For 35 families of Sitio Tahimik in Brgy. Calapacuan, Subic, Zambales who have long feared losing the land where they have built their homes on, receiving their own land titles was a huge dose of relief and security.

In separate meetings with Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. and Zambales First District Rep. Jay Khonghun, the residents became emotional as they expressed thanks to the government for making their dreams come true and giving them peace of mind.

“Very thankful po kami kay Governor Jun Ebdane. Akala ko noong una panaginip lang, pero totoong-totoo pala. Kapag humingi ka ng tulong, hindi ka mapapahiya. Naiiyak ako sa tuwa,” said Ruby Remedios, one of the beneficiaries.

“Maraming salamat po, Governor Jun Ebdane at Cong. Jay Khonghun,” she added.

Assisted by Calapacuan Brgy. Captain Teresita ‘Tita’ Alver, the 35 Sitio Tahimik families petitioned for government assistance to have their lots titled five years ago.

Alver said the assistance from Ebdane and Khonghun made a big difference for the residents. “Silang dalawa ang naging malaking dahilan kung bakit natupad ang matagal na naming hinihiling. Maraming-maraming salamat po,” Alver pointed out.

The awarding of the land titles, Gov. Ebdane said, not only gave the residents with legal ownership of the lots, but also certainty, security, and a more stable future. – Alex Galang / Taktikom News & Features
