MARIVELES, Bataan — A major franchise operator of quick-service restaurants (QSRs) is set to establish its presence at the free port zone here, the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) announced on Thursday, June 4.

The De Guzman Group of Companies, a master franchise operator for Jollibee Foods Corporation in North Luzon, will build “some of the country’s well-loved restaurants in the Freeport Area of Bataan,” AFAB said.

These include iconic brands Jollibee, Chowking, and Greenwich that are expected to expand dining options while creating new economic opportunities and employment for the FAB community, it added.

AFAB said the project falls in line with its vision of transforming the Freeport Area of Bataan into a dynamic investment hub for diverse industries and sustainable employment.

“The project reflects growing investor confidence in the FAB and contributes to the continued economic growth of Mariveles, as well as its neighboring communities,” AFAB stressed.

“Through these developments, AFAB continues to build a vibrant community that shares in the benefits of the Freeport’s long history of economic growth and development,” AFAB also said.

The De Guzman Group, also known as De Guzman Foods Group, was founded by the late Consul Eduardo de Guzman, a highly respected businessman in Bataan.

The group operates under subsidiaries like Kathea G Foods Corporation, which operates multiple QSRs in Balanga City, Dinalupihan, Mariveles, Orani, and Orion.

The group recently inaugurated a Mang Inasal branch in Mariveles.

AFAB said the group’s expansion projects at the Bataan Freeport are expected to create greater livelihood opportunities in the area and enhance the quality of life in Mariveles and Bataan as a whole. ▲
