IBA, Zambales — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) formally opened on May 26 two infrastructure development projects in Zambales that will benefit farmers and community residents.
These are the Apo-Apo-Cadmang Road in Cabangan town and a Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) in Masinloc.
DILG Zambales Provincial Director Melissa D. Nipal said these are the last projects in Zambales completed with the Seal of Good Local Government Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) for 2024.
Nipal led the formal opening of the new infrastructure with Project Development and Management Unit Chief Mc Gyver T. David, and key local officials and stakeholders from the two municipalities.
The Apo-Apo-Cadmang Road, the DILG-Zambales office said, improved rural connectivity and provided farmers and residents with convenient access to markets, essential services, and economic opportunities.
The Masinloc SWIP, meanwhile, strengthened agricultural sustainability and provided a reliable water source for irrigation, thus improving crop productivity and enhancing local livelihood.
DILG-Zambales said that nine of the 13 municipalities in the province received the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award, which granted each awardee an allocation of P1,153,000 for the implementation of identified priority projects under the SGLGIF.
The awards, which encouraged LGUs to further strengthen local development initiatives, have demonstrated how excellence in governance could deliver quality, people-centered, and impact-driven projects that promote inclusive local development, the DILG said. – Taktikom News & Features
