SUBIC, Zambales — The Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) of Barangay Ilwas was recognized as champion in the Subic Barangay Fire Olympics held jointly by the Bureau of Fire Protection-Subic Fire Station (BFP-Subic) and the Subic Public Order and Safety Office (SPOSO) on March 27.

The inter-barangay competition, the first to be held here in Subic, was held at at Brgy. Pamatawan, with participants from auxiliary groups in Pamatawan, San Isidro, Ilwas, Cawag, Mangan-Vaca, Calapandayan, and Asinan Proper.

Each CFAG team deployed 10 personnel in the competition, including officials and staff.

Flammable liquid fire extinguishment (BFP-Subic)

According to Deputy Municipal Fire Marshall SF02 Dennis Ellaso, participants competed in three events: hose laying and replacement of busted hose; flammable liquid fire extinguishment; and bucket relay.

He said Barangay San Isidro’s CFAG recorded the best time in the first contest, while Calapandayan finished first in the second event, and Asinan Proper led in the third competition.

However, after the three events, it was Barangay Ilwas that scored the most points and thus, was declared overall champion. Barangay Calapandayan placed first runner-up, while Barangay Cawag was second runner-up.

The various participating teams also fielded their own candidates for a muse competition. This was won by Pheachy Rose Morados of Cawag, who was named Ms. First Subic Barangay Fire Olympics. SK Kagawad Cheervel Arizala of Mangan-Vaca was first runner-up in the muse contest, while Hannah Rose Trinidad of San Isidro was second runner-up.

The Fire Olympics was organized by Municipal Fire Marshall SFO4 Ramon Gutierrez, SFO2 Ellaso, and the SPOSO led by Romeo Hernandez and John Carlo Ramos.

Subic Councilor Ryan Gonzales witnessed the event as representative of Mayor Jon Khonghun and gave a message to the participants on behalf of the mayor. ▲
