CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark seized about 17.5 kilograms of shabu worth P119 million concealed inside crystal resin countertops.
Authorities reported that the parcel arrived from Las Vegas, USA, and was bound for Makati City.
Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a K-9 sniff test, which yielded positive indications for narcotics.
Samples submitted to PDEA for chemical analysis confirmed the substance as methamphetamine hydrochloride, which is classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
A warrant of seizure and detention was issued against the parcel for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to RA 9165.
Port of Clark District Collector Jairus S. Reyes commended the dedication of Customs personnel and partner agencies for their vigilance and swift coordination in intercepting the shipment.
“Their commitment and teamwork are crucial in safeguarding our borders and protecting our communities from the dangers posed by illegal drugs,” he said.
For his part, Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno emphasized the importance of strong partnerships among enforcement agencies.
“The success of this operation underscores the value of deep-rooted coordination among our partner agencies. By strengthening collaboration and sharing intelligence, we ensure that our borders remain secure and that illegal drugs are prevented from reaching our communities,” he said.
