MARIVELES, Bataan — Japanese electronics company Mitsumi Philippines, Inc., a business locator at the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) here, was recognized by the provincial government of Bataan as the No. 1 taxpayer among the 153 enterprises registered in Bataan free port zone.
Mitsumi general manager Yoshitaka Kitahara received the recognition during the Sinag ng Bataan Awards ceremony held last Friday, January 9, as part of Bataan’s 269th Foundation Day celebration.

The citation was based on the firm’s 1% share from the 5% tax on gross income earned as a FAB-registered enterprise.
The recognition, the firm said in a statement, “reflects Mitsumi Philippines, Inc.’s continued commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and meaningful contributions to nation-building and local development.”
Mitsumi, which is owned by the Japanese electronics giant MinebeaMitsumi, produces semiconductors, camera actuators, connectors, power supplies, and other electronic components from its factories in Bataan and Cebu.
The firm’s total Philippines production contributed about US$1.9 billion, which is equivalent to 15.1% of MinebeaMitsumi’s total distribution, as of end March 2025, according to financial highlights released by the Japanese conglomerate in July last year.
Aside from Mitsumi, four other FAB-registered companies were in the Top 5 taxpayers list based on their revenue share, said the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB). These are East-Cam Tech Corp., which manufactures outdoor gear and equipment; Dunlop International Philippines Inc., manufacturer of sporting and athletic goods; property developer Ruzena Estates Development Corporation; and prescription lenses producer Essilor Manufacturing Philippines Inc.
Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia said the Sinag ng Bataan Awards honored top contributors in real property tax, including agricultural, commercial, industrial, and residential categories; transfer tax; and the 1% share from the 5% tax on gross income earned by FAB-registered enterprises.
The provincial government also recognized several top-notch Philippine companies for their tax contributions during the awards night.
These include San Miguel Foods, Inc. for real property tax in agricultural business; Ayala Land, Inc. in commercial business category; GN Power Mariveles Energy Center, Ltd. in industrial business; Petron Corporation, industrial business category; Fiesta Communities, Inc. in residential business; Subic Bay Development & Industrial Estate Corp., residential business category; and Phil Comsat Holding Corp. in business category.
