Senior citizen yields 170-K shabu in Subic drug bust

SUBIC, Zambales (October 2, 2025) —A 60-years old resident here was collared by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) following a buy-bust operation where he yielded P170,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu.

The suspect, who is said to be listed in the regional target list of drug personalities, was identified as alias “Elmer,” and a resident of Purok 1 Aplaya, Barangay Matain, Subic.

A PDEA team from provincial offices in Tarlac and Zambales, and asssited by the local police, arrested Elmer in a buy-bust operation at around 3:55 p.m. in Matain on Wednesday, October 1.

The suspect did not resist arrest and yielded seven pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing more or less 25 grams of shabu.

The PDEA said Elmer will be temporarily detained at the PDEA RO3 jail facility in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, while charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 are being readied for filing.

The PDEA Zambales office has earlier reported the arrest of four drug suspects in Subic, following anti-illegal drugs operations at Purok 6 in Barangay Calapandayan, Subic town, on September 22.

The operations also resulted in the seizure of about nine grams of shabu worth P61,200.

Before this, authorities also arrested four drug suspects in a raid of a makeshift drug den in Calapandayan on September 13.

The suspects were identified as alias Aida, 62, and the alleged maintainer of the drug den; one alias Eni, male, 51; an alias Drew, 28; and an alias Win, a 58-years old male.

PDEA agents recovered from the suspects more or less 10 grams of shabu valued at P68,000, assorted drug paraphernalia, and the buy-bust money used by the PDEA agents. 
