SM Foundation Operation Tulong Express aids typhoon victims in Olongapo

SM Foundation, Inc. (SMFI) with SM Cares, SM Markets, and SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown with the support of City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD), helped families in Olongapo City who were afflicted by Super Typhoon Egay through its Operation Tulong Express mission on July 31.

This after heavy rains poured by Egay caused widespread flooding in some parts of North Luzon.

As one of the first responders to the flood-stricken communities, SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express gave Kalinga packs as immediate assistance to 252 affected families in Barangays Sta. Rita, Pagasa, New Banicain, New Asinan, East Tapinac, New Kababae, and East Bajac Bajac.

The packs consisted of bottled mineral water, rice, canned-goods and instant noodles.

Recipients of Kalinga packs expressed their sincere gratitude to SM, praising the company’s proactive approach in reaching out to the community during difficult times. SM’s Operation Tulong Express specifically focuses on disaster response and relief efforts, promptly mobilizing resources to assist affected communities during calamities.

The distribution of Kalinga packs was headed by SM Olongapo Central Mall Manager Ariel Ferrer and SM City Olongapo Downtown Asst. Mall Manager Anton Lerma with volunteer employees and agencies from the two malls.

SM has consistently demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility, engaging in numerous initiatives to support the community.
