Olongapo Mayor lauds SM security force

OLONGAPO City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino, Jr. praised the dedication to duty of members of the security force assigned at SM malls in the city during the annual Joint Tactical Inspection (JTI) and General assembly of SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown on July 14 at SM City Olongapo Central SMX Convention Center.

The annual activity aims to test the administrative efficiency, training management, proficiency, and emergency response skills of security force assigned in SM Supermalls, SM Retail Group and its affiliates to ensure the safety of customers, employees and tenants.

“Natutuwa ako na ganyan ang quality ng guwardiya sa SM. Along the way, nakakadagdag kayo sa paglago ng ekonomiya sa Olongapo,” Paulino said as he shared his experience in giving certificates of commendation to SM security personnel who turned in money and valuable items lost by customers.

He added that the honest SM personnel were the third major source of “Honesto” candidates in the city.

“Keep up the good work, panatilihin nating safe, malinis,maganda at conducive ang ating mga malls. Reflection din po kayo ng Olongapo؅—’pag maganda ang nangyayari sa SM, ibig sabihin maganda rin ang nangyayari sa labas,” remarked Paulino, who was guest of honor and speaker during the JTI and general assembly.

Meanwhile, Almus Alabe, senior vice-president, Customer Relations Service Department, exhorted the various security officers to cooperate with one another.

“Always continue to work together. We belong in different business units but we only have one goal, and that is to provide service to our customers, our fellow kababayan and our community,”said Alabe.

During the JTI, the security force’s firearms, gear, uniform, paraphernalia as well as communication equipment and other support gadgets were examined to ensure compliance to the standards set by the company. Likewise, agency personnel for janitorial services of the malls were also evaluated.

Aside from Mayor Paulino and Alabe, those present in the event were Engr. Bien C. Mateo, Senior Vice-President-SM Supermalls; SAVP for Customer Relations Service of SM Retail, Inc. Charleston Tan; Victor G. Santiago, CSP AVP, CR- FRG, and Manuel M. Fayre Jr., managing director-157 Raptor Security Agency.

Also present were Engr. Junias M. Eusebio, SAVP-SM Supermalls-North Division, Regional Operations Manager for North 4 Engr. Bong Garcia, SM City Olongapo Central Mall Manager Engr. Ariel I. Ferrer and SM City Olongapo Downtown Asst. Mall Manager Michelle L. Cortez; City Councilor Rodel Cerezo and City Tourism head Fifi Legaspi.

Apart from the inspection, commendation and awards were also given to employees and security personnel who turned in money, cellphones and other valuables to mall patrons.

The Joint Tactical Inspection is one of the annual exercises observed in all SM Supermalls nationwide that aims to examine personnel compliance to the company’s security standards and policies. 
