OLONGAPO CITY — Gandang Latag, the longest-running barangay pantry in the Philippines, is gearing up to celebrate its second year with the launch of its first fundraising event for the benefit of its back-to-school program.
Dubbed the “Music Fest Summer Blast,” the event is set to take place on June 3 at the Remy Field, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, and promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and fun.
Headlining the event are some of the Philippines’ top bands, including Bandang Lapis, Nobita, Sud, and Mayonaise, who will be performing their hit songs and entertaining the crowd with their electrifying performances.
With their catchy tunes and soulful lyrics, these bands have captured the hearts of music lovers across the country and are sure to leave the audience wanting more.
But the Music Fest Summer Blast isn’t just about great music and entertainment. It’s also an opportunity to give back to the community and support a worthy cause.

Gandang Latag, started a community pantry in May 2021 when a group of concerned citizens in the Philippines rose up to help their fellow countrymen who were struggling to make ends meet in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
DJ Ciego Ganda, the founder of Gandang Latag, said the group is composed of individuals who are passionate about helping others, saw the need for basic necessities like food and other essential items, and decided to take action. Through their community pantry, they provide aid to those who are most in need, regardless of their background or social status.
Recently, the group partnered with the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Federation of Olongapo City, headed by President Donna Jarling, to ensure the success of the project.
With Music Fest Summer Blast, all proceeds from the event will go towards the back-to-school program, which aims to provide school supplies and other essentials to underprivileged children in the community.
By attending the event, guests can make a difference in the lives of these children and help ensure that they have the resources they need to succeed in school and beyond, Latag organizers said.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating our second year and to be launching our first fundraising event,” DJ Ciego Ganda said. “We believe that education is the key to a better future, and we are committed to doing our part to support underprivileged children in our community.”
The Music Fest Summer Blast is expected to be not only a fun event, but also a meaningful way to make a positive impact on the lives of others. The event will also be a tribute to the partners, donors, and volunteers who have been instrumental in keeping Gandang Latag serving the community for two years.
Tickets for the Music Fest Summer Blast are available now and can be purchased online (FB Page: Music Fest Summer Blast) or at the venue on the day of the event.
