DOLE, SM LABOR DAY JOB FAIR 2023 A SUCCESS

The job fair at SM City Olongapo Central has attracted over 65 employers from various industries such as retail, food and beverage, manufacturing, healthcare, finance, hospitality, and many more.

Companies such as Alfamart Trading Philis.,Inc , Sports Central, Datian, OEDC, Staffhouse International Resources and Main Shopping Princess Phils. Inc. were among the many exhibitors, offering a total of 4,188 job opportunities for Olongapeños, and the nearby provinces.

In observance of the 121st Labor Day in the Philippines, job seekers trooped to the Labor Day Job Fair held at SM City Olongapo Central on May 1. The event was organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and in partnership with SM Supermalls, the primary and official partner of DOLE in conducting job fairs in SM malls across the country for years.

According to Reynante N. Lugtu, Provincial Director, DOLE-PFO Zambales, the agency aims to provide jobseekers decent employment and support job creation which is exactly what the agency wish to achieve in collaboration with their local counterpart PESO and SM Supermalls.

Aside from the job opportunities, the DOLE also set up a one-stop-shop service of different government agencies, such as the Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Home Development Mutual Fund, TESDA and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in a bid to assist applicants to complete their pre-employment requirements.

The job fair aims to provide employment opportunities for job seekers as well as support the government’s efforts to reduce unemployment in the country and help the country’s economy recover from the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aside from SM City Olongapo Central, job fairs were also held in other SM malls across the region, including SM City Pampanga, SM City Cabanatuan, SM City Baguio, SM City Tuguegarao, SM City Marilao, SM City San Jose Del Monte, and SM City Grand Central.
