MASINLOC, Zambales — The municipal government of Masinloc has reinstated the liquor ban and curfew for minors within the municipality and has tasked local police and barangay peacekeepers to enforce the same.

The prohibitions were contained in Executive Order No. 1, series of 2023, that was signed by Mayor Arsenia Lim on January 19.

Lim pointed out in her order that while Covid-19 transmission rate in the municipality is under control, and hence was not the reason for the curfew, “some crimes related to physical injuries, sexual abuses, and other juvenile delinquencies appear to be on the rise” among minors.

These, she added, “are deemed sufficient grounds to modify the existing regulations on the liquor ban and curfew within the municipality.”

Lim also noted that the liquor ban and curfew were temporarily lifted to make way for the festivities in the last quarter of 2022.

Under EO No. 1, the curfew for minors shall be effective from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

As for the ban on sale of liquors, stores and other establishments were prohibited from selling all kinds of alcoholic beverages to minors under pain of prosecution.
