SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), through its Ecology Department, has chosen the Missionaries of Charity in Olongapo City to receive the proceeds from the 11th Recyclables Collection Event (RCE) conducted early last month.
A total of 32 wards and 15 house parents from the Missionaries of Charity in Olongapo City would benefit from the proceeds amounting to P35,000 from the various forms of waste materials collected during the said event.
The SBMA said that from the collected wastes sold, the agency earned P35,000 and used this to buy items such as shampoo, lotion, soap, towel, adult diapers, baby powder, as well as alcohol, dishwashing liquid, detergent, toilet cleaner and fabric conditioner for turnover to the nuns running the Missionaries of Charity.

Aside from the aforementioned items, the beneficiaries also received from the SBMA milk, biscuits, candies, chips, juice, hotdog, chicken and lechon for their Christmas party.
The RCE is an annual event of the agency wherein companies inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone turn over their hazardous and electronic waste, which are then sold to recyclers.
The money earned from the collected wastes are then given to local beneficiaries. ~
