IBA, Zambales — Mayor Jeffrey Khonghun of Castillejos, Zambales was unanimously voted president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Zambales Chapter in an election held on August 16 at the Funtasea Resort in this town.
The election was held with the supervision of the Zambales office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) headed by Provincial Director Martin Porres B. Moral and was attended by all Zambales municipal mayors.

The other officials elected along with Khonghun for LMP-Zambales are: Botolan mayor Jun Omar C. Ebdane, who was voted vice president; Iba mayor Irenea M. Biñan, secretary; San Felipe mayor Reinhard E. Jeresano, treasurer; Cabangan mayor Ronald F. Apostol, auditor; and San Marcelino mayor Elmer R. Soria, public relations officer.
Those who comprised the board of directors are: Subic mayor Jonathan Khonghun; San Antonio mayor Edzel L. Lonzanida; San Narciso mayor La Rainne A. Sarmiento; Palauig mayor Billy M. Aceron; Masinloc mayor Arsenia J. Lim; Candelaria mayor Byron Jones E. Edquilang; and Santa Cruz mayor Consolacion M. Marty.
The election was held under Section 21, Article VIII of the new By-Laws of LMP, which provides that “All Municipal Mayors in every province shall convene in their capacity as representatives of their respective municipalities and elect their respective Provincial Chapter Officers from among themselves whose primary duty is to carry out all policies and instructions formulated by the National Executive Committee and/or the National Directorate.”
The LMP election was successfully conducted with the assistance of Deputy Executive Director Alvine Gaye Pizzaro from the LMP National Office; and LGOO VII Jude B. Romero, Cluster Team Leader and LGOO II Rose Ann D. Agostosa, Acting Program Manager of DILG Zambales, who served in the panel of observers. Mayor Roland F. Apostol served as interim president in the election.
Provincial Director Martin Porres B. Moral, meanwhile, pledged the support of DILG-Zambales to the LMP to ensure that public service delivery would be efficient and would provide lasting impact to the people. ~
