Columban College, Inc., SM forge academe-industry partnership

“AT SM Supermalls, commitment to serving the communities is at the heart of what we do, and providing opportunities for the growth and development of the youth is part of it. Academic partnerships are also integral to SM, as it helps us build our organization’s diversity and enhance our strategic plans in forming opportunities for the young generation,” thus said Cheryll Ruth Agsaoay, VP for Human Resources of SM Supermalls, as SM began a partnership with a local college. 

Columban College, Inc. (CCI) and SM signed a memorandum of agreement on August 4 to formally establish a partnership in recruitment and job placement, internship program and learning session.

As stated in the MOA, the CCI shall participate in the internship program of SM as requested, and execute the implementing agreement as applicable. It shall also support SM in its recruitment and job placement by sending invitation for its job and career fair programs, furnishing a copy of both the graduating students and alumni roster, and posting SM’s job vacancies in the school bulletin boards and websites.

Meanwhile, SM shall be responsible in the conduct of job and career fair programs of CCI according to its established rules and processes. It will also allow students to participate in the company’s internship program and ensure the development of their knowledge, skills, and attitude in preparation for their future career, as well as ensure their safety.

Present during the ceremonial MOA signing were CCI officials headed by President and Chief Inspiration Officer, Rev. Fr. Raymann G. Catindig, VP for Finance & Administrative Services Dr. Amelia Cecilia S. Reyes, VP for Academic Affairs and Student Services Dr. David C. Bueno and Dr. Eric Matriano, Dean of College of Business Accountancy. SM Supermalls was represented by HR Manager Rodora M. Lo, SM City Olongapo Central Mall Manager Ariel I. Ferrer and SM City Olongapo Downtown Assistant Mall manager Cromwell Baza.

SM Supermalls Vice President for HR Cheryll Ruth Agsaoay, in her written message, thanked Columban College for choosing SM Supermalls as one of its academe partners and for having a shared vision of creating a better future for the youth.  SM is looking at forging academic partnerships with more schools and universities nationwide. ~
