BOTOLAN, Zambales – Members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in Barangay Panan here planted about 100 seedlings of forest trees to help reforest parts of community watershed.
The tree-planting project was held on May 21 at Mount Katung-uhan in celebration of the International Day of Biodiversity 2022, which had the theme “Building a shared future for all life.”
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Zambales assisted the Panan SK in organizing the activity, which aimed to engage the youth of the community and the SK organization to support and sustain the environment and to mitigate global warming and climate change.




Participants included students belonging to the Panan National High School–Supreme Student Government (SSG) and SSG advisers Lester Fallorin and Ronel Tic-an, members of Philippine National Police Botolan-MPS, and Panan barangay officials led by Brgy. Captain Villoria.
The participants planted seedlings from a variety of forest species.
The PENRO said the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Zambales continues to take the lead in organizing such event that highlight the significance of replanting degraded forests, inform the general public about the importance of water conservation, instill the significance of properly managing solid waste, and ensure the safety of various species of wildlife.
The DENR consistently advocates the “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalilkasan” philiosophy, which looks forward for partnership and collaborations to help revive and heal the environment. ~
