IBA, Zambales — Barangay San Agustin emerged as the top performing Lupong Tagapamaya (LT) in this municipality in an assessment conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iba Field Office and the Municipal Awards Committee (MAC).
The assessment was made on March 10 at the municipal hall among the municipality’s 14 barangays to search for the top performing Lupong Tagapamaya that will represent Iba in provincial competition.
San Agusting garnered an overall performance rating of 91%, with an equivalent “very satisfactory” adjectival rating.

The said assessment was spearheaded by MAC chairperson, Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) VII Judith B. Romero, and participated in by committee members Sangguniang Bayan councilor Joan Ballesteros, OIC police chief Major Bryan Christopher Baybayan, and civil society representative Nestor de Jesus.
The said assessment covered the barangays’ performance in the effective implementation of Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) in calendar year 2021.
The barangays were evaluated based on the criteria: efficiency in operations (35 points); effectiveness in securing the settlement of interpersonal dispute objective of the KP (30 points); creativity and resourcefulness of LT (25 points); area or facility for KP facilities (5 points); and financial or non-financial support (5 points).
Based on the documents presented and after thorough assessment, the MAC unanimously declared Barangay San Agustin as the top performing LT in Iba.
Barangay San Agustin will be endorsed to the Provincial Awards Committee (PAC) as the official entry/nominee of the municipality of Iba, Zambales for the 1st – 3rd class category. — Judith B. Romero
