DILG, Zambales gov’t inspect CMGP road projects

IBA, Zambales — To ensure that locally-funded projects in the province of Zambales are implemented in accordance with the required technical specifications and are constructed in conformance with quality assurance standards, an on-site inspection of projects under the FY 2020 Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP) was made on July 19 to 22.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Zambales led by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad conducted the joint inspection with the Provincial Government of Zambales through the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO).

DILG-Zambales and Provincial Engineering Office personnel conduct an inspection of road projects in the province.

Zambales have been a recipient of the CMGP since 2016 when it started as Konkreto at Ayos na LanSAngan and DAan Tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran (KALSADA) Program before transitioning to CMGP.

The program aims to improve the state of provincial roads and enhance the competency level of the province when it comes to local road management and public financial management.

Among the projects funded under the FY 2020 CMGP Program are the rehabilitation of San Narciso-Grullo-Umaya provincial road, with an allocation of P35,36 million; rehabilitation of Castillejos-Balaybay-Cawag provincial road with P32.76 million; and rehabilitation of Balili-Tambac provincial road, with P23.02 million.

The road projects have a total length of 6.622 kms.

The joint inspection culminated in an exit conference to determine project completion timelines.

The inspection results show that two out of three CMGP 2020 projects are already completed upon validation of the DILG-PMT.

An exit conference was facilitated by DILG-PMT on July 23 to cap the on-site inspections and to further assist the provincial government on the findings, provide recommendations and technical assistance, and enjoin concerned project contractors to provide commitment timelines.

Bactad said the DILG hopes for a continued partnership with the Zambales provincial government towards the success of the CMGP program.

The DILG, Bactad added, has long supported the socio-economic development in the province by linking these roads to establishments to further provide better access to basic services. – Ma. Garelyn D. Pangilinan
