SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — In consonance with the national government’s development agenda, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Zambales brought together technical personnel from local government units to prepare the roadmap for progress in the province.
In coordination with the provincial government of Zambales, the DILG office conducted the “Follow-Through Activity on Local Road Mapping and Completion of Local Road Network Development Plan (LRNDP)” on October 9-13, at the Vista Marina Hotel here.
DILG Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad said the activity sought to ensure the completion of a road database with digitized road network map of the province.
“Ito ay para siguradong maramdaman at makita ng bawat mamamayan na ang Pilipinas ay umaasenso,” said Bactad.
The project is in line with the new economic agenda of the national government and will serve as basis in identifying future local road projects, she added.
The planning activity was attended by municipal planning and development coordinators, municipal engineers, municipal assessors, GIS personnel, and technical staff from the 13 municipalities of Zambales.
Meanwhile, DILG Central Office-OPDS technicians gave comprehensive discussions on GPS, GIS, QGIS and the actual mapping of road network.
The participants are expected to accomplish their digitized road network map by October 29 to complete the Provincial Road Network Development Plan of Zambales.
Bactad emphasized that the output of the activity will be used in preparation for future projects of the provincial and municipal governments and to meet the target of the national government to have all road networks paved by the year 2022.
